Target using anti-union propaganda videos

with 23 comments

Like many a corporation it would seem that Target is now joining the bandwagon when it comes to attempting to fill their employees heads with anti-union propaganda. There is an interesting suggestion on how people could fight back by producing and distributing their own videos to Target employees.

A counter argument should be made. And since Companies and CEOs have addresses and spending habits of people, the union should have them also, and mail dvds with the counter argument to all Target employees. Of course if getting those addresses is not feasible, which is probable. People that care about Americans and workers rights could pass them out to target workers outside of Target stores.

This actually sounds like fun! This should be done with all corporations because after all, the real reason corporations are anti-union can be summed up below.

The irony of it is union workers make more then non union workers, non union retail workers have less pay, less health care and less benefits then union retail workers, the real reason the training video wants to smear unions with deception, is money for companies not money for employees.

i have a relative that works for target. everytime she tries to get a phone number to get ahold of a union representative they give her numbers that do not work. where can she find a union representative. what is the website and a phone nummber where one can join a union as an employee of Super Target?

I do not believe there is an official union recognized by Target. I could be wrong but that’s where I think things are right now. There may be a union that’s not recognized however that is still useful for organizing and representation. There may be a worker center doing similar things as well. I’d say to start by contacting the United Food and Commercial Workers.

I just got hired at a Target here in California and the anti-union video comes up near the middle of the training DVD. It’s longer than any other segment in the entire DVD and I was apalled and shocked by their tactics. I have got to say they had nothing positive to say about Unions it was only 20-30 mins of warning us about how they are dangerous and will make our lives miserable. The sickest thing is they used actors to give examples of the various ways life would change! One guy loaded a cart full of dirt bags and the other (supervisor) said “Oh sorry bla I can’t help you because the union says I can’t give you any help” LOL I was like HOLY FUCKING CHRIST. Frankly I’m ready to call it a day and not even show up and move back in with my parents, this sort of SICK & DISGUSTING anti-union bashing makes me want to throw up, hey TARGET FUCK YOU EXECS SCUM

Hang in there. Since you need a job I’d look for another one before I quit.
But do leave Target and don’t go to work for any big box retail or chain
store corporation if you can avoid it. Why not look to work in the
non-profit or government sectors? Look at idealist.org.
