Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr. on the reality of Royal Dutch Shell

without comments

I’m reading the latest The Nation. on my Kindle and I came across an article on Shell. In the end there is a paragraph where Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr. is quoted.

“Don’t get me wrong, a business like Shell is a ruthless organization whose only interest is bottom line,” says Saro-Wiwa. If the company can save money by dodging its environmental responsibilities, he continues, there is little doubt that it will pollute. “Their only responsibility is back to their shareholders, ” he declares. “But we need to change that. “

I’d have to agree that there are many corporations who operate the same way. Some people try to organize shareholders like they do with Exxon-Mobil. I’m sure that some of that is going on with Shell also.
