US Chamber’s Lobbyists Hired Hackers To Sabotage Unions, Smear Chamber’s Political Opponents

without comments

ThinkProgress has learned that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the big business trade association representing ExxonMobil, AIG, and other major international corporations, is working with set of “private security” companies and lobbying firms to undermine their political opponents, including ThinkProgress, with a surreptitious sabotage campaign.

via ThinkProgress » EXCLUSIVE: US Chamber’s Lobbyists Hired Hackers To Sabotage Unions, Smear Chamber’s Political Opponents.

First they support Iran by asking the US not to impose economic sanctions on them. Now they’re hiring hackers to sabotage their opponents which is actually illegal.  The Chamber of Commerce needs to remove US from the beginning of its name because it is un-American.

US Chamber of Commerce hearts Iran

without comments

Why does this not surprise me? The Chamber of Commerce would probably support North Korea if one of its members had a vested business interest there.

Early last year, the Chamber, along with eight other business-friendly groups, wrote to then-National Economic Council director Larry Summers and then-National Security Advisor Jim Jones opposing Iran sanctions legislation.

This is pathetic. They might as well do what Halliburton did and move to Dubai and get rid of the US in their name.

Eric Wohlschlegel of the un-American Chamber of Commerce got punked

without comments

It was about that time, the real Chamber spokesman burst into the room – and had a mild shoving match at the podium. “What happened today was a fraud and I believe illegal,” Eric Wohlschlegel said. The spokesman said he learned of the hoax when a reporter came to the Chamber office looking for the press conference. Wohlschlegel said he immediately leaped into a taxi.

The Yes Men pulled an Ashton Kutcher-like prank on the poor US Chamber of Commerce.

The US Chamber of Commerce should remove “US” from its name

with 3 comments

Ah yes that hallowed institution that great “Chamber of Commerce” of our nation has spoken again. Yes, the organization who has supported the abuse of Chinese workers by opposing labor regulations (by China!) that would seek to protect them better, has graced us with another pearl of wisdom.

“We urge the Senate to refrain from including provisions that could negatively impact U.S. relations with key trading partners and disrupt the global trading systems,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Foreign Trade Council and two other groups said in a letter to Senate leaders.

“Climate change is a global problem that calls for international cooperation, not unilateral ultimatums.”

I’m surprised that they even recognize climate change as real! What they’re basically against in this situation is the United States applying a tariff on “carbon-intensive” goods like steel coming from countries who aren’t doing enough to reduce C02 emissions. Now mind you this provision would not take effect until 2020! By that time we’ll need to be doing things like this. Instead of the United States being the leader that it has to be on climate change “Da Chamber” wants us to sit idly by.

I do see the US Chamber of Commerce as the enemy

without comments

They are an enemy in which I will gladly demonize.

The Jobs with Justice group decided to remind members of the Chamber’s anti-worker history. They point to the chambers stances against: The eight-hour workday for women, child labor laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, The Voting Rights Act, raising Americans with Disability Act access standards, overtime payments for millions of workers through reforms of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and increases in the minimum wage as indicators that the Chamber is only interested in preserving a system in which working people get the short-end of the stick.

To hell with you Chamber of Commerce. You're no good for America or the world as your stance on China and its workers are concerned.
